West Lake Toho & The Kissimmee Chain
May 10, 2008
The spawning season is over, and the fish have begun to move to offshore structure... Main lake hydrilla beds have been the key to producing both numbers and sizeable fish. Texas rigged 8" worms & soft plastic jerk baits have been the best producers. Under windy conditions, a 3/8 ounce white spinnerbait or chrome/blue lipless crank bait have been producing some good sized fish.
The Conway Chain of Lakes

This is my favorite time of year to fish the Conway Chain... It's on FIRE! 40 - 50 days are common. Small top-water plugs work great in the early morning hours. Soft Plastic jerkbaits and Texas-rigged trick worms work great throughout the day. White spinnerbaits & suspending Shad Raps (black back/white sides) work great when there's a wind of 10mph, or more. This pattern should continue throughout the summer months.
The Butler Chain of Lakes

Zoom Super Flukes (Watermelon Red). A friend of mine guided a client to a 10.4 lb lunker and a stout 6.15 lbs. Kicker this past week. The numbers aren't as high as on the Conway Chain, but they're still biting pretty good.
